Website Up and Running Workshop

Whether you’re a complete beginner or know some HTML, you will leave this class with your own fully functioning website that you can customize and maintain on your own with no programming needed.

All the software we use is free. After you take this class, you will be able launch sites within a day using these same techniques.

Prerequisites

  • Registered Domain Name
If you don’t already have a domain, find one that you’ll be able to put to good use over time. There are tools out there to help you if you’re having writer’s block. Some of those tools are listed here.
  • Internet Service Provider (ISP)
You will need a web server to provide a home for your website’s files, along with PHP and MySQL 5, both of which should be standard inclusions with any of the more popular services providers.
  • Content
If you have four or five pages worth of your own content you want to see on the Internet, great. Otherwise, we’ll help you come up with some ideas to launch.

We will be happy to assist in advance of the scheduled class to ensure you have what you need to get started.
